Overview

"A true story of an impressionable divorced mother of two young boys who takes a holiday in Malta where she is befriended by a charismatic French couple. Invited to visit their home in Paris, they introduce her to the shy, impeccably mannered, Claude. Romance flourishes and they have a son. The chance of her family living in the South of France seems to be a dream come true. But deeply hidden secrets arise, casting ever-darkening shadows beneath the Mediterranean sun. As each layer of deceit is exposed, it awakens an evil from the past, the horrors of which herald an omen of unimaginable repercussions. The consequences are far-reaching. From her Cornish homeland to the Languedoc Rousillon region of southern France, more than geographical boundaries are crossed as a sinister game of cat and mouse ensues as each player strives to outwit the other. Under the Hague Convention, facing charges of child abduction, it becomes clear that the only laws that truly apply are the laws of survival in a mother's desperate bid to protect her child... but at what cost? A donation from every sale of this book will be made to Hague Convention Mothers. Roz, CEO, GlobalARRK ""Jan is one of thousands of families affected by this issue every year. After my own lived experience, I set up the charity GlobalARRK. We are contacted by over 300 desperate families every year, all going through an international custody dispute. Around 30% have been accused of child abduction under the Hague Convention (1980) after they tried to return home with their child. Official reports say that over 75% of these cases involve a primary carer mother taking her child back to her home country after experiencing domestic abuse."""

Reviews

The Loving Abductor' by Jan Ford is a masterpiece which paints vivid pictures and life-like emotions into the imagination of the reader. Every character plays their part but Jan is the real show stopper with her relentless resilience, selflessness, fight and compassion to protect her family. The part of the story which had engraved itself on my mind is her triumphant escape from her torturous villain that seemed so justified and deserved. Having read the book, it made me feel sorry for what she and her family had gone through and shocked that there are people like this that would put their family through such horrible things actually exist. As this book is very motivational and inspiring I believe this would benefit anyone who may be going through or have gone through something like this. Connie Oughton I have just finished, I literally couldn't put it down! You made it feel like I was on the journey with you, what an incredible, scary, frustrating and sometimes unbelievable story! After reading this you will be a hero to many including myself! Thank you so much for sharing your story. Hayley Mitchell Dent I was offered the chance to read this book pre-publication by Jan Ford. The book surpassed my expectations. I knew that this was a true story and that it would not be easy reading. The story is about Jan's amazing struggle to fight for her children's well-being and safety when faced with someone who appeared charming at first but turned out to be very manipulative and dangerous. It would have been an amazing fictional story, but even more powerful knowing that Jan's long struggle against this controlling man was true. Jan keeps the reader on the edge of their seats in an easy-to-read yet commanding way. I am sure that other people will identify if they too live with a controlling husband or partner. This story will give them inspiration and show there is light at the end of the tunnel, and it is always worth fighting for, even in the darkest moments. Jan is an inspiration and the book is the testimony of her resilience when faced with such a challenging and dangerous situation and shows that goodness usually wins through in the end! This book is highly recommended. Julie Lightfoot (life coach) Wow, what a book! I couldn't put it down, it's a real page-turner. It touches on a subject so raw and applicable to so many. Domestic violence, both mental and physical is so prevalent in our society but so ignored. It needs to be out there and discussed. Verity
