Melis May Sagay was born and raised in the coastal city of Izmir, Turkey. She earned her BFA in Performing Arts from Dokuz Eylul University, specializing in dramaturgy and playwriting. Her graduation thesis explored the play-within-a-play technique in Max Frisch's Biography.In Turkey, she worked in opera as an assistant director, founded a private theater, managed an advertising agency, and wrote professionally as a newspaper copywriter.Since moving to the United States in 2016, she has continued her work in theater and puppetry. She is the author of The Lost City of Atlantis, a fantasy series for young readers inspired by mythology, adventure, and the imaginative world of the stage.
