Overview

"This title presents painted journey of coping with bereavement through art therapy. After 47 years of marriage, Mary Challenger was confronted with the sudden death of her husband, Cliff. People find many different ways to cope with the devastating loss of a partner, but Mary found it almost impossible to discuss her grief and sought help from her GP. When he discovered that she was a talented artist, he suggested she should try to produce drawings and other artwork to explore her feelings of bereavement. This proved to be the key to her long road to recovery, as Mary produced more and more images that reflected her emotional journey. ""The Long Road"" charts her progress through deeply felt grief, expressing her suffering and sense of loss and harnessing those dark emotions into a remarkable collection of work."
