He taught sociology at American University in Washington D.C. from 1973 until his retirement in 1991. His work in analytical sociological theory was the fruit of over 50 years of scholarly research in the fields of religion, philosophy, history, and sociology. Joseph R. Pearce, PhD, was Gert Mueller’s assistant who helped him conduct research and edit his various manuscripts. He published a book on Mueller’s theory entitled, Analytical Sociology: Its Logical Foundations and Relevance to Theory and Empirical Research.
