Dr. Verhelst is a member of the Global PBC Study Group for primary biliary cholangitis, the International PSC Study Group for primary sclerosing cholangitis (iPSCsg), and the Vascular Liver Disease Group (VALDIG) for vascular liver disease. He has been involved as a primary or subinvestigator in numerous phase I, II, and III clinical studies for new therapies in patients with viral hepatitis, primary liver tumors, primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), autoimmune hepatitis, and liver transplantation.
