Reviews

Berto provides a lively and readable edition and translation of Erchempert's text, supported with detailed notes and contextual material covering the source and its contents, its manuscript tradition, and its author. As such it is to be hoped that it will stimulate further research both on the complex geopolitics of ninth-century Italy in general and Erchempert's History in particular. - Nicholas Morton, Nottingham Trent University
