After growing up in the Pilbara, Western Australia, Kate moved to Perth to complete studies and has since spent most of her career back in the Pilbara, working Fly In Fly Out (FIFO) at multiple Iron Ore Mine Sites. Kate welcomed her daughter Olivia into the world in 2021, which gave her the unique insight of mining and motherhood to draw creative inspiration from in her children’s books. Kate personally understands how important it is for children with FIFO parents to have a connection and understanding of the work Mum or Dad do when they are away from home. The Little Book of Mining takes children on a journey through the stunning Pilbara Region in Western Australia, explaining the movement of each machine and providing some insight into a typical day on an Iron Ore Mine in Australia. A must have book for anyone connected with mining or interested in big machines. Illustrator: Mel Corrigan is a Melbourne based illustrator with an architect-trained eye for detail. She creates work using a mix of hand drawn and digital techniques. She loves using the traditional medium of watercolour and coloured pencils, and most recently has enjoyed working digitally using Procreate. Raising her young family has rekindled her love of picture books. She is interested in capturing the playfulness and imagination of children. She finds inspiration in the little things: the everyday joys and interactions that colour our days. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
