OverviewIn my prior book, Learn To Like Yourself, I explain that there are two kinds of light, the wholesome and the bleak. Both of these short stories teach about the relationship between the wholesome and the bleak light, and how we can return to feeling whole again. The Lion Who Liked Lemons is about a Lion who wants to become invisible in order to steal lemons on the island of prosperous Lemon Farmers. He eventually approaches the local Shaman for assistance. What follows is a story about the origin of the lies we agree to tell each other in exchange for social advantage. When a young Adventurer arrives on the island, he is surprised to find that none of the people are willing to see the obvious signs of a Lion stealing their lemons. In The Lonely Gray Sock, a boy named River Longways loses one of his favorite socks. Myst, the sock who remained, is suddenly faced with the sad change of events, now destined to live a lonely life in the drawer. With the help of River, he is able to find a new, exciting role in life. These books are suitable for a 5th-6th grade reading level but include themes better understood by adolescents and young adults.
