Overview

Engaging children worldwide, this multi-million selling children's Bible is now available in a super-readable edition to help every child unlock the enjoyment of reading Bible stories. The Lion Children's Bible continues to be the top-choice for using in homes and schools. This new edition uses a unique font for making reading easier, even for dyslexic and reluctant readers. All the significant stories of the Old and New Testaments from Genesis to the book of Acts are retold in clear, simple language which children understand. The stories may be read as individual stories, yet they form a continuous narrative, which closely follows the 'one story' of God and God's people contained in the whole Bible. Attractively presented, this rich storytelling starts with the creation, through the story of the people of Israel and the life of Jesus, to Paul's shipwreck and arrival in Rome. Accompanied by appealing and colourful illustrations, these timeless stories can be enjoyed by all children reading alone or with the help of an adult. The Lion Children's Bible has been translated into over 40 languages and is a trusted and faithful retelling for each new generation of children. The Grace Typeface?, designed for inclusive reading, has been developed by 2K/DENMARK in collaboration with Cambridge University's Research Department. This innovative typeface is meticulously crafted to enhance readability and comprehension for individuals with dyslexia and other reading challenges. The type design shows gravity to the baseline, and the letter design is made to achieve the maximum variations to create beautiful words that are easier to read and remember. The Grace Typeface? transcends conventional typography by prioritizing inclusivity and accessibility without compromising aesthetic appeal. Its thoughtful design empowers individuals of all abilities to engage with written content more effectively, fostering a more inclusive reading experience for diverse audiences worldwide.

""Attractively presented. . . like a series of rich, short stories."" -- The Good Book Guide ""Modernized to be clear and simple enough for children to read easily. . . the thread of God's purpose runs clearly but unobtrusively through."" -- Church Times ""A colourful retelling. . . a book to be recommended."" -- Irish Catholic ""As a dyslexic who understands the issue of readable fonts, I am over the moon that SPCK has produced this dyslexic-friendly Bible for Children. This is a hugely positive step forward, recognising the unique needs of those with dyslexia and ensuring they have equal access to God's big story. By tailoring the font and layout, SPCK has removed a significant barrier that may have previously prevented dyslexic children from fully appreciating the richness of the Bible. It demonstrates a thoughtful and inclusive approach, allowing these young readers to embark on their spiritual journey with greater ease and understanding."" -- Rev Dr Cris Rogers ""As a dyslexic, I am beyond delighted that Lion are re-releasing such a superb and well-tested story book Bible in this new, accessible format. The Lion Children's Bible manages to hold a level of biblical faithfulness and narrative depth rarely seen in many other story bibles within a format that makes it accessible and easy to use for daily reading with or by children of various ages and neurodiverse experiences. The remarkable and continued popularity of previous editions over more than 40 years is well deserved and this new dyslexia-friendly format only goes to build on its wonderful legacy. I wish that I had owned a copy of this when I was a child. -- Luke Aylen, priest, author and theologian
