Overview

"71 mostly one-page poems written over a 53 year period starting from when the author was 15 covering a wide range of subjects and experiences that are both unique and universal to most all of us: love, despair, wonderment, youth, aging, humor (some dark) and much more. Here are some poem titles that might attract your further interest: ""Sails of Feeling,"" ""Solar Indigestion,"" ""The Aliens Must Be Laughing,"" ""The Matchbox Mind,"" ""Where There Is No Gravity,"" ""I'm 27 and I Just Don't Understand,"" ""20 Years of Desire,"" ""The Awakening,"" ""Merchant of Tears,"" ""Our Eyes Are Oceans,"" ""Just Before Leaving the Corporate World,"" ""The Thing About Luck,"" ""Breath and Poetry,"" ""Canopy of Stars,"" ""Ocean of Souls"". I invite you to take a walk with me through that forest of words and images and together seek some light of day even as we sometimes stumble in the dark."

Author Information

"James J. Goodman, born mid-way through the last century, has been both appalled and delightfully surprised by this life, and, while no stranger to adversity, has, so far, had more good luck than bad. He once saved a dragonfly trapped behind a display window of a store that was across from the Sonoma town square. It was very hot and it sat motionless on the edge of something. He cupped it in his hands and brought it near a fountain in the square where it was cool and sat on a nearby bench. When he opened his hands the beautiful insect did not immediately fly away. It expressed gratitude to him telepathically and then took off. He had not expected that. Such a nice surprise. ""The Light of Day"" is his first book. His hope is that it will be a nice surprise for you."
