The eight foundations of Christian holiness are Faith, hatred of sin, humility, self-denial, renunciation of the world and of all things, the abandonment and submission of oneself tot he divine will, the love of Jesus and His most holy Mother, the love of the Cross, and charity to our neighbor. These are the principles of heaventy theology, of Christian philosophy, of the science of the saints, which our Lord Jesus Christ taught by His words and still more by His example. You are obliged to follow these teachings if you wish to be true Christians. You are bound by the solemn profession you made at Baptism. If you wish to learn the science of the Saints, this book is a must read. St. Alphonsus writes: a single bad book will be sufficient to cause the destruction of a monastery. Pope Pius XII wrote in 1947 at the beatification of Blessed Maria Goretti: There rises to Our lips the cry of the Saviour: 'Woe to the world because of scandals!' (Matthew 18:7).
