ACFlory 4.0 out of 5 starsand their great, great descendant who unearths the family secrets a ... Goldrush era Australia meets modern day Bendigo, a city that owes its very existence to the gold that flowed through its rivers and creeks. The story is told from the perspective of two sisters, orphaned on their way out to the Australian goldfields, and their great, great descendant who unearths the family secrets a hundred odd years later. It's an interesting technique and kept me turning the pages to see how two very young women manage to survive the dangers of the goldfields. I really enjoyed it. Nikki rated it really liked it Shelves: australian, contemporary, historical This is an engaging story that alternates between the present and the past as two teenage girls try to survive in the gold rush era after recently arriving in Australia. There was a good mix of story and history and it reminded me of my own school trip to the Sovereign Hill to learn about Victorian goldfields.
