The Legion's Ghost

Overview

In 9 AD, 15-year-old Robert is thrust from the year 2020 into the freezing mud of the Germanic frontier, just as a massive tribal uprising looms against Rome. Clad in a modern hoodie and hiking boots, and armed only with a multi-tool and a bag of fireworks, he is captured by a Roman scouting party that mistakes his ""alien"" gear for barbarian spycraft. Despite being a skilled hunter, Robert is a natural mechanic at heart; he manages to buy his life by using modern physics to repair a broken Onager catapult that has stumped the Legion's engineers. Granted a precarious status as a probationary auxiliary, Robert must navigate the brutal hierarchy of a Roman fort under siege. While the soldiers watch his every move, he uses his engineering wits to bolster the camp's defenses, all while hunting for the ""glitch""-a shimmering atmospheric anomaly that is his only ticket home. In a pulse-pounding race against time and ancient warfare, Robert must reach the portal before it vanishes, ultimately waking back up in the safety of his own bed in 2020.

Author Information

Carrie Ray is a storyteller who refuses to be pinned down. Whether she is crafting high-stakes sonic conspiracies in the Small Town, Big World Mysteries, weaving faith-driven suspense in The FBI and the Lady or building the epic supernatural reaches of The Primal Chronicles, Carrie explores the many facets of the human experience. Grounded in a search for truth and connection, Ray's work offers a story for every mood-from pulse-pounding thrillers like The Resonant Kill to narratives that inspire the spirit. This versatility stems from a childhood spent in vivid daydreams, a trait that now helps her transport readers to immerse new worlds. Based in Texas, Carrie's curiosity for the ""unseen"" drives every page she writes. When she isn't charting the course of ancient civilizations or solving gritty crimes, she can be found at home with a crochet hook in hand, catching up on her favorite series. She invites readers to join her journey and discover new worlds to daydream about for themselves.
