Overview

At Link's Awakening, Mabe Village is a small village located southwest of Koholint Island and is the first on the island visited by Link. It is here that Link is brought back to life by Marin and his adventure on the island begins. After waking up in Marin and Tarin's house and receiving his shield from Tarin, Link travels to Toronbo Shores, where he finds his Sword and begins searching for the Wind Fish. The Village is small and consists of only four houses - one under the sister township, Animal Village. Marin and Tarin's home are located in the heart of the city, south of Weather Vane. Madam MeowMeow's house lies to the west of the city near the entrance to the mysterious forest. South of Madam MeowMowow's house is the house of Old Man Ulrira, where Old Man Ulrira and Grandma Yahoo live. Farther north of the town, west of the Dream Shrine, is the Quadruplets House, home of the Quadruplet Family. The Library is located at the southwest corner of the Village, with plenty of books containing useful information. To the north of the library, there is a Source that can go into the Link to get a piece of heart. South of the Library is the southernmost point of the Village District, and north of the Fountain is the entrance to the Mystery Forest. Madam MeowMeow's North House is a Fishing Lake, where Link can spend 10 Rupees on Fishing. The Link can also find a piece of the heart here. To the south of the Valley, east of the Old Man Ulrira House lies the Booth. The Village also has two shops. To the northeast of the village, to the west of the entrance to the Ukuku grassland, is the town tool shop. Here Link can buy useful items such as bombs, hearts, and arrows and large items such as a shovel and a bow. To the southeast of the Village is the Trendy Game, where Link can play a crane game for 10 Rupees. The Link can find many things here, especially the Yoshi Doll, the first item in the Quest. Between the two stores is a large piece of Grass Link that I can cut to get the Secret Seashell.
