The Law and Policy of the World Trade Organization

Overview

Global trade has become the lifeblood of the modern economy, linking nations through the exchange of goods, services, and capital. The rules that govern international trade shape economic growth, political relationships, and development across the world. The Law and Policy of the World Trade Organization provides a detailed examination of the legal and institutional framework underpinning global commerce. The book discusses the principles of nondiscrimination, market access, and dispute settlement that define the functioning of the WTO. It also explores trade negotiations, regional agreements, and the balance between free trade and public policy objectives such as environmental protection and human rights. Through case studies and analysis of landmark rulings, it offers readers a thorough understanding of how international trade law operates in theory and practice.
