Overview

There are five primary goals that this book hopes to accomplish, and they are the following: Cover the basic fundamentals of electrical engineering and mathematical fundamentals The essence of value engineering (VE) A deeper analysis and insight into all of the ramifications of global environmental change An initial practical and alternative in-depth approach to preliminarily preparing the terraforming of the planet Mars A historical analysis of where we have been and where we are at today in the lighting industry The first part is a refresher in trigonometry for those of you who have forgotten how to perform this type of mathematics due to computerization--how value engineering (VE) works that allows for reduction costs, improves design and performance, as well as improves the quality of life. We have always had climate change with us for over the past four and a half million years, from the entire Earth freezing over to horrendous desertlike conditions. Even now, we are still in the last phase of an ice age. Before we attempt to settle and colonize Mars, we must modify and improve the harsh and hazardous conditions on the surface of Mars. It will likely take a hundred years just to make the conditions tolerable and at least a thousand years to terraform Mars to approximate Earthlike conditions. We have entered into a dazzling new era in lighting sources and controls.
