Overview

Laiyang in Shandong Province holds a pivotal position in the history of paleontological research, both in China and worldwide. Not only was it the site of China's earliest dinosaur fossil discovery, but it also stands as one of the most significant Cretaceous dinosaur fossil localities in the world. 山东莱阳是我国最早发现恐龙化石的地区，也是世界上最重要的白垩纪恐龙化石产地之一，在我国乃至世界的恐龙等古生物学研究史上具有举足轻重的地位 The Laiyang Hadrosaur Fauna is one of the significant Late Cretaceous dinosaur faunas in China. Among the dinosaur and other vertebrate fossils discovered in the Wangshi Group Formation in Laiyang, Shandong, the members of the Hadrosauroidea superfamily are the most abundant and representative in both quantity and diversity. Based on materials excavated and studies conducted in recent years by the author's institution, this book focuses on the research history, geological background, and evolutionary classification of the Laiyang Hadrosaur Fauna. It also presents the latest research advancements on hadrosauroid genera and species found in Laiyang, including CT scanning and internal structure study and reconstruction of the cranial crest of Tsintaosaurus spinorhinus, morphological and taxonomic studies of the newly discovered Laiyangosaurus youngi fossils, and analysis of the burial environment of the fossil-rich layers. 莱阳鸭嘴龙动物群是我国晚白垩世重要恐龙动物群之一。在发现于山东莱阳王氏群地层中的恐龙和其他脊椎动物化石中，属于鸭嘴龙超科的成员，数量和种类都最为丰富，最具代表性。基于近年来作者所在单位在莱阳发掘的材料和研究，本书着重介绍了莱阳鸭嘴龙动物群的研究历史、地质背景和演化分类，以及对莱阳发现的鸭嘴龙超科属种的最新研究进展，包括对棘鼻青岛龙头饰的CT扫描和内部结构研究和复原，对新发现的杨氏莱阳龙化石的形态学和分类学研究，以及对化石富集层埋藏环境的分析
