""Detective Max Luton, Homicide."" My standard intro, and yeah, this old dog's used it a lot, over the years. I've investigated a good many deaths. Maybe too many. This one was strange. Rich tiger, a lawyer a little younger than me, offs himself with a gun in one paw and a short sword in the other. Crazy, but what's that to me? Nothing... except that the brass wants it to be a murder. After all, no rich guy who has everything would commit suicide, right? My hunt for a candidate to be a killer led me to several crazy characters who didn't know nuthin'. Finally, that twisted trail pointed to some group called Timewind that's wrapped up in his past. Some kind of subversive-hippie-commie bunch, according to the government watch groups that labeled them domestic terrorists. They'd made the sword that I'd found on the tiger. They knew him, once upon a time; maybe they'd know why he killed himself. Maybe it had something to do with this book of theirs, The Tribal Manifesto. I figured I had to check it out. Might be dangerous, but at least it'd be an interesting way to go...

Tristan Black Wolf has been a purveyor of anthropomorphic (""furry"") fiction since his first National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) win in 2010. His work has been featured and followed by tens of thousands of fans over the years. His stories have appeared in many anthologies and have won awards through fiction contests (on the SoFurry website) and in publications like Allasso Vol 2: Saudade (Editor's Choice for Best Use of Anthropomorphism). His novel The Laputan Factor, which includes artwork by Dream and Nightmare, has been featured at dozens of ""furry"" convention dealer's tables in the US, UK, and Germany. He is also the writer and producer of the SFW webcomic Natural Habitat (begun in 2018). If pressed, Tristan Black Wolf will admit that he is the anthropomorphic projection of actor and author Tristan MacAvery, PhD, who may or may not have been found baying at the full moon from time to time.
