Overview

Growing up, I frequently dreamed about having a family of my own. I was prepared to accept the challenge and put in the hard work necessary to realize my ambition, even though I knew it wouldn't be simple. I read every book, attended every course, and asked for guidance on how to raise children as a young adult. I came up with my parenting philosophies and sought to make a lovely, healthy, and joyful house in which to raise a child. What sort of child did I desire, though? I had a definite concept in mind, one that was influenced by my personal experiences, ideals, and parental expectations. I wanted a child who was brave, resilient, independent, and curious. I also wanted a child who was smart, artistic, curious, and self-assured. But most of all, I wanted a child who was full of life and possibility.
