Overview

It's the spring of 1987 and high school senior Marek Kalas has survived his first few months of a seer of creatures of magic. He crosses paths with a young werewolf named Mackenzie who introduces him to a sinister game of chess led by an unknown warlock that may be a century old. Can he trust his foe to help expose the game or will he become a casualty of war? Two warring werewolf packs have been brought together by espionage, lies, and deception. Kalas cannot fight the warlock alone and must decide who he can trust as he falls deeper into the plans of evil and becomes the sworn enemy of the two factions he is trying to protect. Kalas races against time and enemy blades as he tries to unfurl the plan of the warlock before the carnage claims everyone in the warlock's path and threatens to expose all creatures of magic. This novella is a story that takes place directly after the novel, The Kalas Papers Volume 1: Bloodlines and is the prequel to The Kalas Papers Volume 2: A Fire Down the Garden Path coming soon. This series is based on the short story, ""The Kalas Papers: My First Rodeo,"" that appeared in the horror anthology, Autumn Tales II: Pumpkin Slice Nightmares published by Anatolian Press.
