Overview

In January 1971, Colin, an officer from British Special Branch recruits eighteen-year-old Sam Nathan to infiltrate a group of student extremists who they believe are planning a terrorist attack in Sam's home city of Glasgow, Scotland. Sam foils the plot, narrowly escaping being murdered by one of the gang named Max Jordan. In gratitude for his efforts, he is invited to the prestigious event that the gang tried to ravage. During the celebrations, Sam is introduced to a statesman who inadvertently reveals to him highly classified intelligence. This information leads Sam to understand the true motive behind the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The details are so horrifying that he cannot reveal them for fear of ridicule, or worse, for the fact he might be believed. Concerned that making his knowledge public might endanger his life, Sam keeps these facts to himself, intending never to disclose them. However, an episode in 2007 changes his mind. Sam finally decides to write about his adolescent experiences, his actions unwittingly threatening to destroy global alliances and bring him face to face with his nemesis who has waited half a lifetime to exact his revenge.

Reviews

Philips has crafted a well-researched thriller (which) demonstrates a clear knowledge of historical events and the American political landscape from WWII through to the 1970s. -OnlineBookClub ...a unique conspiracy theory...it slots nicely into the tangled and paranoid Cold War mentality saturating the novel-a mentality that may be relevant again in the post-Cold War embroilments of 2022. -Carolyn Geduld, author of Take Me Out The Back If you can stand the tension of being led down a vortex launched by a youthful transgression, following a mostly-innocent man drip-fed just enough information to be chasing a mystery while running for his life, you'll enjoy this book. The Judas Conspiracy is a real page-turner. -Jeffrey Ulin, author of The Lord's Tusks

Author Information

avid Philips was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1953 and emigrated to Perth, West Australia with his wife Adele in 2009. He has two adult children who still live in Glasgow. David has had several careers including being the anonymous half of a comedy double act with an irreverent, mischievous keyboard playing robot called Mr. Hairy and it was always a matter of some chagrin that the robot stole all his best lines and got more laughs than he did. In his spare time, David plays folk harmonica, swears at the T.V. and reads, anything by Scottish authors Ian Rankin and Craig Robertson. He is also a big fan of the novels of the late Robert Ludlum. David also writes short horror fiction and is a regular contributor to Schlock, an on-line e-magazine. The Judas Conspiracy is his first novel.
