The Journey Home: Images of Death and Afterlife with Older Adults

Overview

"Life is finite. We find this truth evidenced repeatedly in scripture, perhaps nowhere more clearly illustrated than in James 4:14: ""Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away."" Even though we are faced with the reality of our own certain demise, we shy away from talking about the issue with those who are chronologically closer to life's end. The older population tends to be marginalized by our society, and avoidance of the topics of death and afterlife is one more marginalization. This book outlines a 6 week program to help pastors, chaplains, or lay leaders begin to have this very important conversation with the older adults they serve."
