The Jewelled Kingdom

Overview

An evil force crossed dimensions and came to the farm under the shadow of Bear Claw Mountain. Seventeen-year-old Amey is on spring break and finds herself forced to the forefront of an unknown battle. Jasper shows her how to use her gemstones to escape to the alternate world kingdoms of Altidio and Freo to join her mother and grandmother who are the queens of the kingdoms. She is asked to rescue her unknown father, the king, who is held captive by his cousin, the evil Magician, Balik. Overwhelmed by the changes in her life and the responsibility placed on her to rescue her father and free the people, Amey courageously forges ahead with the support of family and her new friend, Lirin, to harness the power of the gemstones to save her father, overthrow Balik and return the kingdoms to peace.

Author Information

I am a mother of 3 and grandmother of 6 and live in the remote Bella Coola Valley on the Central Coast of British Columbia, Canada. I grew up in Ontario and our family moved here in 1974. We have been self-employed since 1995 running a small greenhouse business for 26 years. I have written stories and poetry all my life. In 1969, I won the Birks Award for English. I am a visual artist in pen and ink and watercolour and I have shown my work in several exhibitions and created the cover for my book 'The Jewelled Kingdom'. My approach to writing is also very visual. I am also part of a Voices in Bloom group who meet monthly on Zoom. This is my first book although I have written prose and poetry for many years from childhood with some of my poetry being used for various celebrations.
