OverviewWhat do you do when your child won't stop biting? In Sparkle Forest, even the smallest fairy can cause the biggest commotion. Haven Ruth may be little, but when her feelings boil over, she bites. Soon, the villagers of Everkind are dodging tiny teeth and searching for a way to help. When big emotions build up, children often need a bridge between what they feel and what they do. For some children, those feelings come out through biting. This story offers a gentle, joyful way to explore those moments through the eyes of a fairy and her dragon friend. A Story That Teaches What To Do Instead Rather than focusing on correction or redirection, this book teaches emotional intelligence by guiding children through their feelings while strengthening the connection between caregivers and children. Instead of telling children ""don't bite,"" this gentle, interactive story shows them what to do with overwhelming emotions in the moment they happen. An Interactive Adventure for Every Little Dragon Everkind's cinnamon-loving dragon arrives to teach Haven (and your child) the ""Dragon Code"" a safe, physical way to express big feelings through song and movement. Through the Dragon Code, children are taught to move, breathe, and reset, and are given simple words they can use when emotions rise. These words help signal to caregivers that they need support, creating a shared language that replaces biting with communication. Rather than sitting still, children are invited to move, twirl, shake, sing, and breathe as the story unfolds. Children don't just hear the story; they participate in it and practice what to do when big feelings take over. The fun continues after the story ends with The Fairy Find Adventure, an interactive search and find that invites children to dive back into the magical illustrations of Sparkle Forest. Why Parents and Educators Love This Book: Interactive Play: Children become part of the story and keep coming back to it. Table of ContentsReviews5 Star Review from Readers' Favorite Reviewed by Emily-Jane Hills Orford for Readers' Favorite In Everkind, Haven Ruth, the smallest fairy, is also known as the Biter Fairy. In Gael JB Orr's The Itty-Bitty Biter Fairy, Haven Ruth has quite the temper, and she resolves it by biting anyone nearby. All the other fairies have bite marks from Haven Ruth's temper. No one knows what to do to help Haven Ruth curb her temper and stop biting. Siblings Peyton and Penelope decide it's time to take action. They can't discipline Haven Ruth because Everkind doesn't believe in discipline. So, they seek out the kind dragon, Bill, who once had a temper that was out of control. He curbed his anger, and he has some ideas on how to help Haven Ruth curb hers. He teaches the girls the dragon code, a song to help, and gives them his prized squishy green dragon toy. Will it work? Will Haven Ruth be able to stop biting? Gael JB Orr's book, The Itty-Bitty Biter Fairy: An Everkind Tale, is a fairy tale for young readers to help them deal with sudden mood swings. I appreciate that the language is simple, making it easy for young readers to follow along. I love the illustrations, which are bright, bold, and colorful, adding a distinctive element to the plot development. I find it interesting that the author decided to lay out the story to help readers at different levels, with each part of the plot including a shorter read for younger readers and a fuller story for older children. The end of the book reviews the Dragon Code and provides the lyrics of the dragon's special song (which is sung to the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star). I love the use of music (and the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle) to emphasize positive mood swings. This is a great way to help young readers and families work together as they transform from anger to peace and tranquillity. Author InformationGael J. B. Orr writes stories that explore how kindness, belonging, and emotional strength shape who we become. She began writing fairy stories for the neighborhood children, who reminded her how much truth hides inside imagination. Each story in Little Renee of Sunshine and the Everkind Tales grew from real questions about belonging, courage, and how we come to define ourselves. Her work invites both children and adults to rediscover emotional intelligence through imagination, humor, and heart...and a whole lot of pixie dust!
