OverviewThe Island of Mermaids is a musical representation of the dialogue between the sea and a mermaid, whose singing is from time to time enchanting, playful or sensual, intertwined with the sound of the waves, which in turn are placid, foamy or dark and threatening. Written in 2008, the piece was initially conceived for oboe and band but later arranged with piano accompaniment. The solo part is suitable for playing with different instruments such as oboe, flute, clarinet, soprano saxophone, violin. The form of the piece follows the rondo pattern, with a lyric main theme alternating with contrasting episodes. SOLO PARTS IN C AND Bb ARE INCLUDED IN THE BOOK.
