He is the recipient of the 2012 Richard E. Fox Foundation Research Prize, the 2010 Lawrence W. Fertig Prize in Austrian Economics, and the 2017 Gary G. Schlarbaum Prize for Excellence in Research and Teaching. His research focuses on the social and economic role of entrepreneurship, and the influence of institutions on entrepreneurial behavior.
