Overview

The fact that the International Criminal Court is now a reality is due in no small part to the active role played by NGOs. The Project on International Courts and Tribunals (PICT) contributed valuable assistance to the delegates of the ICC Preparatory Commission with detailed information on the practices of other international courts and tribunals as well as recommendations on the functioning of the future Court. The papers presented in this volume deal with important aspects of how the ICC will consider significant areas of concern such as the participation of victims and witnesses, the financing of the Court, election of judges, and the immunity of the United Nations and its officials.
