She was the director of the first annual Interdependence Day, held at the American Philosophical Society in Philadelphia on September 12, 2003. BENJAMIN R. BARBER is the Gershon and Carol Kekst Professor of Civil Society and Distinguished University Professor at the University of Maryland and a principal of the Democracy Collaborative.
