Overview

Renna Wombless, after the merciless killing of her partner Faarad Atash Zahir, hides herself deep within a wintry forest. Her life in shame and hiding is threatened when three runaway nobles seek shelter with her, forcing her to confront a tribe of zealots pursuing them. On the mainland, a brutal imperial war seeking resources and proxy cities strips Flora of its resources and destroys its people. Facing this northern tribe, Renna finds that she is sought after by these powers, facing an enormous bounty that claims she is a ""Heretic and Danger to the Universe."" Without direction and pursued by both sides of a war between empires, she begins an infinite sojourn to a past her love died to understand, wandering as a vagabond, seeking to complete Faarad's quest and discover her history. Each step in her journey pits her against vicious enemies, reluctant companions, and strange arcanists who each aspire to dissect her history. At the end of her journey lies a great dry expanse of spires and dunes, a place of colonized peoples and violence. As those colonial powers devour land and people, they too seek Renna, and her apocalyptic flesh.
