OverviewUrban growth, climate change, and environmental degradation are serious issues that have a substantial influence on Marginalized groups and frequently make them more vulnerable. This work explores the significant ramifications of environmental concerns inside the Makoko slum located in Lagos, Nigeria. The Makoko community, situated in Lagos, is characterized by high population density and limited access to essential services. Extensive study undertaken over the course of the last ten years has shed light on the distinct array of difficulties faced by this community. Makoko, a settlement characterized by high population density, is faced with a multitude of environmental challenges that exacerbate its pre-existing vulnerabilities.This study employs a comprehensive review of available literature to ascertain the primary environmental stressors prevalent in the Makoko region in Lagos Nigeria. The key findings of the study indicate notable issues pertaining to the escalating water levels, inadequate waste management strategies, degradation of land, and the resultant health hazards faced by the community.
