The HUNGER HERO DIET: How to Lose Weight and Break the Depression Cycle - Without Exercise, Drugs, or Surgery (Australian Edition)

Overview

NUTRITION MEETS NEUROSCIENCE The HUNGER HERO DIET is brimming with knowledge, referencing more than 100 of the latest scientific research papers, a chapter investigating dozens of popular diets, and a short expose of the pros and cons of weight loss surgery. Another chapter covers nutrition basics, to prepare you for the more advanced topics of nutritional biochemistry that so many people want to know about - such as 'superfoods' versus functional foods, antioxidants, probiotics, prebiotics, the gut microbiome, and how the 'gut-brain-axis' plays such a crucial role in our physical and mental health. Each new chapter builds on the last, leading you on a journey of self-discovery as we delve into the Science of Food, Mood and Weight Loss. The DIET PLAN is incredibly simple and easy to follow, with more than 50 colour images of delicious food, and lots of recipes to get your started. The HUNGER HEROES are the secret weapon; smart snacks and ordinary foods that champion our weight loss goals. And to help you lose weight, and keep it off, we face the uncomfortable truth about how we got so fat. We give you a few simple tasks so you can identify the behaviours that keep you fat, and then gently coach you into finding appropriate ways of dealing with those situations. This is the ultimate self-help guide for anyone who is overweight, obese, unable to exercise, or challenged by depression. ""Give a hungry person a fish, and they'll eat for a day. Teach them to fish, and they'll have the skills to feed themselves for a lifetime"". Knowledge is power.

Reviews

The Hunger Hero Diet covers so much content - from fad diets, nutrition 101, Blue Zones, superfoods, multi-factorial reasons for population weight gain, and then into behaviour change theory to set up the tips section and the food/recipe advice. It is all well-informed by research, without being overly technical. Whatever their prior knowledge, anyone reading this will gain some new insights. - Dr Tim Crowe, Advanced Accredited Practicing Dietician, academic, nutrition research scientist, freelance health and medical writer, podcaster, and founder of thinkingnutrition.com.au The Hunger Hero Diet is both engaging and compelling, but an easy read; like a conversation with a friend. - Joy Sauvarin, BSc, Nutritional Therapist
