The House That Broke Me is an emotional powerhouse; raw, honest, and deeply human. Kate Lariscy does an amazing job of putting a human face back on the issue of addiction, at a time when so many have become desensitized to its impact. Through her candid storytelling, Lariscy beautifully articulates the complexity of addiction. how someone can be a devoted mother, a beloved friend, and still struggle with the grips of substance abuse. She paints a portrait of love, loss, and resilience that is both heartbreaking and healing. The book doesn't shy away from the damage addiction inflicts on a family, but it also honors the fullness of a person beyond their struggle. This is more than a memoir; it's a necessary reminder that behind every statistic is a life, a family, a story. Powerful and poignant, The House That Built Me will stay with me for a long time. -Amazon Customer I devoured this book in 24 hours. When I wasn't reading, I found myself thinking about the little girl in the green house and worrying for the teenager in the red house. I laughed with the besties and my heart broke with the family doing the best they could for each other. This book and her journey would undoubtedly resonate with someone connected to a person with addiction. But I think this is a must read book for anyone! I realized how important it is to better understand addiction and the real side of who it affects. Because I too thought ""drug addicts live on the streets. They have missing teeth and shredded clothes... they don't have a successful career, a beautiful home, a family, children."" Amazing story Kate! -Price I read this book in less than 48 hours. It is extremely well written and heartfelt. It's inspired by life as a family of addiction. I enjoyed the entire book, especially the ending when she described going to therapy and getting help after trauma. She stated ""happiness and sadness can coexist ""and and that was very profound. We often think that we can't be happy, but also feel sad at the same time. This is not true and she described it perfectly in her book. Consider reading it and I'm sure that you will enjoy it as I did. - Susan Drinkwater Author InformationKate Lariscy is a first-time author from Elgin, South Carolina, and a proud mother of three. Kate is a graduate of Clemson University with a degree in Mathematics. In this deeply personal debut, she shares her story of growing up as the daughter of a mother who struggled with prescription drug addiction-how it shaped her, scarred her, and ultimately led her to healing. Writing has always been a part of Kate's life, encouraged early on by her mother, who never stopped reminding her she had a gift with words. This book is both a tribute and a testament-to resilience, grief, growth, and the quiet strength it takes to tell the truth. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
