Overview

The House I Live In, is centered around a metaphorical dollhouse, one that represents the home that is a body. The narrator embarks on a journey in coping with the feeling of finding herself through losing herself. Rekindling with dolls that all live inside of her house, she realizes that the path to herself is not as daunting as anticipated, but rather, overwhelmingly familiar. When you picture your younger self, imagine a doll in their place; greet it with open arms and a kiss on the forehead. After all, it probably knows you better than you know yourself.

Author Information

Dalia Emilia is a writer, artist, and textile designer born and raised in Northern Virginia. She loves to talk, and she loves to talk because she loves to tell stories. Literature in any and every form has always been a safe and creative space for Dalia, so it only makes sense she wrote and illustrated her own book. Her passion for storytelling can be found in all of the art she creates, whether that be collages or print and pattern collections. Dalia graduated with a BFA in Fibers from The Savannah College of Art & Design in 2023, and will continue to write and illustrate books as she also pursues a career as a full-time fashion textile designer.
