The Hormone Loop: Understanding Your Body from Puberty to Menopause and Beyond

Overview

'Gillian Goddard is the doctor all women deserve; this book is essential reading for everyone' Emily Oster Take charge of your hormone at every stage of your lifeFrom our mood to our metabolism, hormones maintain nearly every bodily function. Yet most of us don't understand how our hormones work, and what to do when they don't. In The Hormone Loop, renowned endocrinologist Dr Gillian Goddard offers a definitive guide to hormonal health at every stage of a woman's life, from puberty to reproductive years to perimenopause to menopause to postmenopause. Explaining how hormones are comprised of four interconnected 'loops' - reproductive, thyroid, growth and adrenal - she uncovers their roles in our lifelong health and shows how to harness them. Whether you are experiencing unexpected weight gain, fatigue or period pain, or simply want to support a child through puberty, Dr Goddard will equip you with the knowledge to have better conversations with doctors and become a powerful self-advocate for your health. Finally, a hormone book that doesn't panic, patronise, or overpromise. Dr Goddard talks to women like intelligent adults instead of malfunctioning appliances, and it's deeply reassuring -- Rosamund Dean, journalist and author Fascinating and insightful -- Milli Hill, author of Ultra Processed Women
