Katz received his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge and now holds the Slater Chair in Holocaust Studies at Boston University. He is on the academic committee of the United States Holocaust Museum and served for seven years as Academic Advisor to the 31 countries belonging to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA). Katz writes on the Holocaust, Jewish history, philosophy, and comparative mysticism and edits the award-winning journal Modern Judaism.
