After a 50 year career in the shipbuilding industry, our author, D.E. Askew, retired as a director from the largest shipyard on the West Coast of the United States. His comprehensive career which began in ship construction in 1975, led to senior roles in planning, engineering and project management of numerous Naval and commercial repair projects. Married and a proud father of two military veterans, he cherishes family time often enjoying writing, music, landscaping and travel. A self-described left-brained artist and historian, his book, The History of Shipyards in San Diego, brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to readers.
