Marcot is the leading expert on Remington firearms and the author of the official company history--Remington, America's Oldest Gunmaker. He has the largest collection of Remington firearms, ammunition, and memorabilia outside of the Remington facility in Ilion. His interest in firearms goes back to the early '50s, when at age twelve, he took an NRA Hunter Safety course and purchased his first gun -- a single shot, break-open shotgun. After gaining his bachelor's degree at Pratt Institute in New York, Roy served as an Army officer for two years and was in charge of the Fort Carson Pistol Team.Marcot is the author of several books on historical arms, including Spencer Repeating Firearms and Hiram Berdan--Chief of Sharpshooters. Since 1991, Roy has been the Editor of the RSAJournal, the quarterly publication of the Remington Society of America. He is a member of the American Society of Arms Collectors and has been a life member of the National Rifle Association since 1966. He lives in Tucson, Arizona.
