The author Chih-Hai Jen was born in Yi-Xin, Jiangsu Province China in 1932. The Japanese invasion China war began in 1937, his mother brought his younger brother and the author fled calamity from Shanghai to Guilin Guangxi province via jiangsu Province, Zhejiang Province, Jiangxi Province and Hunan Province to meet his father who went to Guilin, Guangxi Province previously. During the fleeing, he saw the Japanese soldiers burned and plundered the Chinese civilians, so much ghastly to look at miserable scene; at that time he began thinking: if my country can become stronger the military facility must be armed with power strongly first. When they arrived at Chongqing Sichuan Province, they lived in his uncle's home. His uncle was an arsenal engineer, he saw the weapons and ammunition manufacturing which excited him very much, so he put his wish to become an ordnance engineer in the future. When Jen graduated from Chung Cheng Institute of Technology (Taiwan), he was dispatched to The 61 Arsenal and joined the weapons and ammunition manufacturing. He worked in ordnance occupation more than 30 years. His work achievement was recognized by the government, his achievement included the establishment all army ammunitions production lines and artillery manufacturing plant. Jen was promoted the Chief Director of traditional weapon and ammunition research division, and the last mission in ordnance career was establishing the missile manufacturing plant and pilot manufacturing missiles. Jen retailed from ordnance organization in 1986. Now, he lives in Shanghai with his son and enjoys the happiness with his grandsons
