Overview

Adele, Samantha and Sadie lived in the era of the witchcraft trials, but not in Salem. Their parents were tried and convicted of being witches then the girls were brought to trial and found guilty. The three sisters were hanged while the older sister who was was hung and then found out to be immune. Her neck shrunk in size and the noose slipped off her neck. As her sisters were hanging from the gallows, their sister stood by helplessly, but vowed to get revenge. Then something happens to change their plans. This is a young adult/middle school story, but suitable for everyone.

Author Information

The Hanging Place was written from a unique picture prompt I found on Pintrest. Unfortunately, it wasn't royalty free so I had to substitute another image for it. The picture inspired me to write this story about four little girls, three of which were hanged as witches during the days of the witchcraft trials. The fourth, sister, the oldest for some reason couldn't be hanged. Something in her blood made her neck shrink once her head was in the noose and after her accusers left, her head slipped out of the noose and she fell to the ground. Her sisters, though were hanged as witches, but came back and the four of them sought to seek revenge on the people who killed them and their parents Catherine Carlson is a published writer and writes in many genres. She is a retired teacher and musician. She and her husband play in a band in their church. She is also an animal lover and has three cats and eight chickens. Living on a farm in South Texas, she finds plenty of time to write between caring for her animals and her other hobbies which include reading, latch hook, knitting, listening to music(Christian) and exercising.
