Overview

The Handmaid of the Lord is a study of the person of the Virgin Mary, her role in world redemption, and her relevance to all Christians today, based entirely on the scriptures. We will find nestled in the text, images of Mary which reveal her as God saw her, and reflections of her in the faces and experiences of other women in the Biblical account. We will consider the many traditions have that been accumulated over the centuries and comment on those that are significant, and those less so. It is an attempt to present Mary to Christians who traditionally have not paid her much attention. The Protestant spectrum of Christian thought that has largely banished Mary to an outer orbit, only to consider her once a year when her star passes nearby. This book seeks to bring Mary near once again. Mary is a remarkable woman who knew Jesus as no other could have done. She serves as an example to all who have set out on the journey of faith, and an inspiration to all who seek a closer walk with God.
