Overview

"""A captivating political thriller that fans of a Tom Clancy or Robert Ludlum will heartily enjoy."" What is inside the mysterious hidden cave will take a stealth military conflict to stop. Peaceful island vacation? Not when the island holds secrets of an evil organization. Undercover US attorney Yi and Tibetan judge Sarah vacation on exotic Hainan Island in the South China Sea while Sarah recovers from a brutal attack by a corrupt judge who believes Yi is a spy. Pursuing clues that involve a letter with a web-like symbol, a sophisticated computer system hidden in a primitive island village, and a mysterious exiled tribal leader, Yi discovers the Net's operations center and bio-weapons lab in an underground cave. When he uncovers their plans to attack, a stealth military conflict is unleashed requiring US-Sino cooperation (includes facts from the US spy plane mid-air collision and politically-charged forced landing on Hainan Island). However, Yi and Sarah must deal with their own conflict as she discovers he is not who he says he is. The Hainan Conflict is a quick read suspense thriller with edge-of-your-seat adventure, fast-paced action, and a touch of romance. Filled with vivid descriptions and fact-based events. Book 2 in The Net thriller series. The story can stand alone but may be more enjoyable if read in order of the series. Awarded Five Stars by Literary Titan and Readers' Favorite"

Reviews

The Hainan Conflict by DM Coffman is a captivating political thriller with incredible and fascinating adventures combined with fast-paced action and traces of romance . . . that fans of a Tom Clancy or Robert Ludlum will heartily enjoy. -- Literary Titan The Hainan Conflict has every ingredient I look for in a novel: intelligent, brave protagonist; cold, calculating villain; scenes so descriptive I felt I was there; tension and suspense, exploding with action. I was completely hooked. - Readers' Favorite Wonderful book. Read it in one day! Interesting plot and characters. Also it hits a lot of my top reading criteria - the ability to tell a fine story in less than 400 pages, and no gratuitous sex or violence. Yes, you can not have those and still have a wonderful book, as this was. It is the 2nd in a linked series but even though I did not read book 1 it was not a problem. There is another book that will soon be coming out, I look forward to that one!!!! - United States Amazon Review The talented DM Coffman has continued the story started in The Net Conspiracy seamlessly, almost like I was just reading a new chapter of one book. Jason Yi, working undercover in China is now on Hainan island with Sarah, recovering from an attack by a corrupt judge. While they spend more and more time together, their growing feelings for each other were palpable. During her convalescence, Jason begins to notice suspicious activities on and around the island, and realises that information he had been given about terrorist activities around Hainan, may in fact be accurate. After reporting this to his superiors, plans are drawn up to confront the issue. I started reading The Hainan Conflict as soon as I finished reading The Net Conspiracy. I was immediately hooked on this continuation of the story. Jason and Sarah are very likable characters and I find myself warming to them more as the story progressed, and was willing them to succeed. The tension felt real, as did the growing danger Jason and Sarah found themselves in. The story was utterly compelling and I'm so glad I have read it. I look forward to reading The Panama Contagion. I'm very happy to have given The Hainan Conflict five stars and recommend the series of books to everyone. - United Kingdom Amazon Review

Author Information

DM Coffman and her husband lived in the People's Republic of China teaching in the World Trade Organization's China Judicial Training Program and Brigham Young University's China Teachers Program. Strange experiences there inspired The Net thriller series, and many truths are woven throughout the books. Prior to China, they worked in the legal profession in Washington, DC. They now enjoy retired life in the Utah Rocky Mountains with family, two rescued dogs, and an old unamiable tabby named Ebeneezer. DM specializes in clean fiction--avoiding offensive language, graphic sex, and extreme violence.
