A mother of two teenage daughters, she lives on a small farm in southwestern Connecticut with horses, dogs, cats, poultry, and a talking parrot. She enjoys writing nonfiction with a special interest in plants, animals, and life sciences. The Green Dog is Melinda's first book for Kane Press. Jane Manning lives in Connecticut with her dog, Nellie. She attended Paier College of Art in Hamden and has illustrated a number of books. These include Cindy Ellen, A Wild Western Cinderella by Susan Lowell (Harper Collins), which won the Western Writers of America Storyteller Award for 2001.
