Big Cat Phonics for Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised has been developed in collaboration with Wandle Learning Trust and Little Sutton Primary School. It comprises classroom resources to support the SSP programme and a range of phonic readers that together provide a consistent and highly effective approach to teaching phonics. In September 1666 a fire broke out at a Baker’s in London, and by the time the fire had been put out had destroyed a large portion of the city. Join the ordinary people who were affected by the fire in this fast-paced non-fiction recount of the world-famous event. Pages 22 and 23 allow children to re-visit the content of the book, supporting comprehension skills, vocabulary development and recall. Reading notes within the book provide practical support for reading with children, including a list of all the sounds and words that the book will cover.

Author Information

Hawys Morgan writes both fiction and non-fiction readers for children. Her understanding of the power of language has its roots in her childhood in north Wales, where much of the population is bilingual. Her own study of other languages, as well as many years spent working in educational publishing, have cemented her interest in reading and language acquisition. She has written over 50 books for young learners.
