OverviewIf you thirst for insight into Luke's timeless message, this expertly taught course will inspire you. The Gospel of Luke: A Bible Study Course is a 12-lecture audio course designed to ignite your passion for Luke's Gospel. Beginning with the Infancy Narratives--in which Luke helpfully instructs us how to read his gospel--Father Nick King, S.J., a celebrated translator of the Greek Bible and Oxford professor, underscores the distinctive features of Luke's Gospel. Sometimes called the gospel of the poor, the Gospel according to Luke is known for its praise of the lowly, its meditations on forgiveness, its preoccupation with women, and its sisterhood with Acts of the Apostles. An auditory collection of explanatory notes, The Gospel of Luke: A Bible Study Course helps you mine the riches of Luke's Gospel. Luke also wrote a second volume, Acts of the Apostles. Fr. King shares with you an intriguing theory of the relationship between the two writings, as well as theories on: Luke's attention to women; Luke's idea of hospitality; The Lucan Journey in the context of our lives today; The distinction between forgiveness and repentance; and The question of Luke's wealthy audience. Fr. King's close reading of the Gospel according to Luke distills time-honored lessons for a modern audience with grace and cogency.
