"""A brave and engaging novel ... a page-turner"" --The Guardian ; ""Rich in detail and perception ... a biblical thriller"" --The Jewish Chronicle"

`The Gospel According' to Lazarus explores the extraordinary relationship between Jesus and Lazarus. It is very probably the most exquisitely told and profound novel Zimler has published... Masterfully written, with a glorious exploration of redemption. - O Publico (Portugal); A unique and eloquent novel by an author who gives us some of the best writing in recent memory... An exceptional story and outstanding work of literature! - Acoriano (Portugal); Unsurpassable in literary quality - an absolute must read! - Casal das Letras (Portugal); `The Gospel According' to Lazarus is a wide-ranging and ambitious novel, a work that goes beyond customary limits, that turns doubt and disquiet into a compelling narrative. By challenging prejudices and canons, Richard Zimler gives us a reinterpretation of the Bible and the ancient history of the Holy Land that is both brave and powerful! - Jornal das Letras (Portugal); A story that offers surprises on every page and that creates in the reader the absolute need to keep turning the page. The powerful narrative is, in part, the result of Zimler's uncanny ability to recreate a past world so compellingly. - Diario de Noticias (Portugal); Zimler offers us a powerful testament to the friendship between Lazarus and Jesus in one of the best novels of 2016. The descriptions of the Holy Land find their perfect counterpoint in the extraordinarily moving relationship between the two Biblical figures. - Jornal de Noticias; An absolutely unique novel in which Richard Zimler masterfully creates a world influenced by dreams and myths, alternating scenes of darkness with others of wondrous luminosity. - Socialist Magazine (Portugal); This passionate novel - written with Zimler's singular voice - is certain to profoundly touch many readers and greatly disturb others. - Diario Digital (Portugal); The description of the miracle of resurrection - told in Lazarus' intimate voice - makes this novel essential reading in itself...An absolutely wonderful book! - Miguel Real, Jornal das Letras (Portugal); Provocative and daring, with the pace of a thriller... Skillfully narrated and very impressive. -Sabado (Portugal)
