The Golden Land: The Story of a Jewish Family's Journey from Ukraine to America in the Early 1900's

Overview

THE GOLDEN LAND is a true story packed with engaging dialogue, cultural richness, family adventures and daily suspense. THE AUTHORS AND THE STORY The book's authors Ann Binder Anovitz and her son-in-law, Keith Kramer, started collaborating on the writing of the manuscript for the Golden Land in the mid-1990's. Prior to this time, the story's protagonist, Beryl Bernie Binder, was still alive and contributed an amazing level of background and detail regarding his family's journey from the Ukraine area of Russia to America. Within its 350 pages, THE GOLDEN LAND entertainingly recounts a saga that could be the story of the many immigrants who have come to America from other countries of the world, looking for the freedom to live their own way and to make something of themselves. FROM THE PUBLISHER THE BOOK Before he passed, Ann Binder Anovitz's father, Beryl Bernie Binder, would often sit down with his grandchildren and tell them stories. The stories included details and adventures of his life growing up with his grandfather, Yankel Wolfe Aynbinder, in a ghetto village in the town of Horchov, in the state of Volhynia, in the area of Russia known as the Ukraine. According to Ann, ""With the help of my son-in-law writer, Keith Kramer, what started as a simple task became a years-long research project and writing effort"". Of course, their tireless and relentless effort resulted in the initial manuscript for THE GOLDEN LAND. In this unique and fascinating memoir, Ann and Keith not only include specific details and entertaining stories about Beryl Bernie Binder's journey to America from Ukraine in the 1920's, but also provide insights into the daily lives of the Jewish people living in the Russian territories of Europe during the time. From surviving frequent war and societal discrimination to maintaining the strong determination required to eventually make the long journey to America, THE GOLDEN LAND is a story packed with engaging dialogue, cultural richness, family adventures and daily suspense. The photos included in the back of the book reflect a family life in America worthy of the travel risk, the personal commitment and the opportunities connected with such a journey. ANN BINDER ANOVITZ Unfortunately, the Binder Anovitz family loss Ann in 2019 after a long and prosperous business, personal and family life.
