War has come to Per-Siana. The King has left the palace to go defend the border. Three months after Ryn is imprisoned, soldiers storm the underground caves of the Mother City prison with orders from the Intelligentsia to form burn divisions that will head into the desert to aid the Per-Siana army. Under her real name, ""Adassah"", she battles B'rei Mira divisions, giants, and enemy kings, but most of all, the brokenness in her own heart. But everything comes to a halt when she crosses Xerxes in battle. Because of her mask and changed name, the young King she once cared for has no idea who she is. Ryn is left with two options: reveal who she is so she can say all the things to Xerxes she never got to the last time she saw him, or keep her identity a secret in order to protect her burn division. This book is inspired by the heart and supernatural battles of King David in the Bible and includes illustrations by Kyannah Durocher and Jennifer Kropf.
