Dr. Lisa Reburn has a PhD in Education and a master's degree in Visual Impairments, as well as master-level endorsements in Education Administration, Early Childhood Special Education, and Orientation and Mobility (a specialty area in the field of blindness). Lisa retired from her thirty-four-year career in education in late 2017. After her first child, Michelle, died at birth in 1992 from a common and preventable but relatively unknown infection called Group B Strep (GBS), Lisa advocated locally, then nationally, for a protocol change to include routine screening for all pregnant women.
