The Girl Who Lived in a Shoe and other Torn-Up Tales

Overview

What do time travel, goat yoga, herbal healing, zip-lining, and a wolf in high heels have in common? You can find them all within the pages of The Girl Who Lived in a Shoe and other Torn-Up Tales! Girl power abounds in the torn-up tales that reside within the pages of this book. A girl who lives in a shoe sets out to rescue her father, who was captured by a giant. Rita Van Winkle wakes up to flying cars and a space-age society. Tara, a shepherdess, faces off with The Big Bad Wolf. Three granny goats impart their wisdom, and a man learns that you can't judge another person by the way they look. This 88-page collection of illustrated, fractured fairy tales for children of all ages is written at a second- and third-grade reading level. The collage illustrations throughout add a touch of whimsy and magic to each torn-up tale. Author Information

Author-illustrator Bernice Seward dreams of living in a giant boot on the edge of a mysterious forest. For now, she lives in northern Idaho with her husband and their two youngest children, along with a dilute calico cat named Maggie Skittles Seward and a gray tabby kitten named Amerigo Go Gogurt Ghostifer the Third (even though the ""Third"" is a misnomer because he's the first cat with that name that Bernice knows of). Author-illustrator Michele Rietz prefers chocolate chip cookies to frog eye cookies, can't wait to try goat yoga, and will happily tell a tale to anyone who will listen (including grumpy trolls). She lives in Lewiston, Idaho, with her husband and dog because all of her little trolls have moved to caves of their own. Author-illustrator Loreley Smith never leaves a (heads up) penny lying on the ground. A believer in fairies, folklore, and all things magic, she loves stories about time travel while also embracing living in the moment. Loreley previously lived in Seattle, Washington, with a view of the Space Needle outside her apartment window for inspiration. Today she lives in Spokane, Washington, where she enjoys all four seasons with her husband.
