The Gift of the Tithe: How to Find Joy by Giving Away Your Money

Overview

When people begin attending church or growing in faith, one of the biggest hurdles they face is giving. The idea of tithing can feel rigid, outdated, uncomfortable, or even impossible. But according to businessman and everyday believer Daniel Crain, tithing has never been about the math. It's about the heart. In The Gift of the Tithe: How to Find Joy by Giving Away Your Money, Crain explains that the tithe is not a command to earn God's favor, but a way of living that keeps our relationship with God healthy and whole. As he writes, ""God doesn't need our money. He wants our trust."" When we learn to give first, we step into the rhythm of grace that brings peace to our finances and freedom to our souls. This practical guide helps readers understand: Why the tithe still matters as a sign of faith in a grace-based life How giving first can transform anxiety about money into confidence in God's care The joy that comes when generosity becomes a way of being, not an obligation Written in a clear, easy to understand style, The Gift of the Tithe offers a biblical vision of money that leads to contentment, trust, and joy. It's not about what God wants from us but about what God wants for us.

Reviews

Danny Crain is a gift to me as his pastor and to our church. What he details in his book The Gift of the Tithe is what I wish every single church member understood. A tithe is not an obligation or a burden, but a gift. If you are a pastor hoping to deepen your church in understanding how God and a godly man like Danny view the tithe, don't miss out on this book. -Rev. Arthur Jones, Senior Pastor, St. Andrew Methodist Church, Plano TX The Gift of the Tithe cuts through every misconception about why we give. As the Apostle Paul wrote to the Philippians, ""Not that I desire your gifts; what I desire is that more be credited to your account"" (Phil 4:17). God is far less interested in what your giving does for the church budget than what it does for your soul. What Daniel Crain makes brilliantly clear is that the tithe didn't vanish with the New Testament; it was liberated from the Law and reborn as an act of faith. He articulates that journey with rare theological clarity and the kind of hard-won personal testimony that only thirty years of walking it out can produce. This book will change not just how you give, but who you are becoming. -Jim Sheppard, Chairman & Principal, Generis generis.com
